Recently-retired superstar New York Giants Wide Receiver David Tyree, visited the classrooms of the Create Success program at Children of the City on August 18, 2010. David spoke with all the children during a special assembly sharing about his days as a professional football player, took questions from the children about a variety of topics, and made time to individually shake each child's hands.
"The very thing that attracted me to Children of the City was and is its aggressive approach to caring. Children of the City goes out into the community, into the homes of families, and provides services right at the point of need" shared David Tyree, when one adult present asked how David got involved with the organization.
Afterwards, David and Executive Director, Joyce Mattera and took time together to talk about plans for the programs at Children of the City, continuing to ensure the long-term success of children and families COC serves. David Tyree serves on the Board of Directors and has been affiliated with Children of the City for several years, continuing to make a difference in the lives of everyone he meets. To the children that day, David is a real champion.
